Sean, I can’t believe it’s been a year! It has always been fun driving by and giving a beep and/or wave while you’re on your swing. We usually could count on seeing you! And it was an honor to watch you while you BROKE THE GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR TIME SPENT SWINGING, and right here in our best kept secret, lil ole East Rochester. Great job Sean! You have our forever vote!

This was an unforgettable day in my life… some excitement in the neighborhood, wishing a strong , determined kid to blast all records! He so reminded me of his Grandpa Tom and Mamo ( both dear friends of mine).. with some enduring DNA from them both!

You were amazing and the town support was tremendous!!! It was so fun to see you go for your goal but it meant even more since I have been driving by you out there for years!! Every time I would drive by smiling! Sometimes you would wave and smile!! The Rountree’s were behind you the whole time!!

Sean- during Covid shutdown- I took LOTS of walks, and every time I passed you swinging, I thought ‘everything will be okay.’ So when you set out to reach this goal, I was so happy to be a small part of it- hanging out through the overnight hours! You may not realize it til you are older, maybe a parent yourself, but it was wonderful to see how your goal and passion brought a community of people near and far, together, to root for something that we all needed that summer!

Unbelievable!!!!!!! What would his age have to do with it. I am very disappointed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Has to make you pause and question if the people that are in there are really the BEST at the record they achieved🤨. Sean still has the #1 record in my eyes!!!

It was an amazing experience being there to take pictures throughout those two days. Seeing the album of pictures in my memories brought me right back there!! Sean-I was devastated to hear that Guinness has refused to recognize and certify your accomplishment due to your age. That's a real bummer. You set out to break the Guinness Book of Records record for longest time swinging. You, assisted by your family, obtained the approval of your plan from Guinness and embarked on extensive planning to accomplish your goal. When the scheduled date arrived, you followed all of Guinness' rules and regulations and invested your time and energies in accomplishing your goal. Your family, your friends, your neighbors, your town all supported your efforts to the fullest and you saw your plan through to a successful end---YOU BROKE THE GUINNESS RECORD. The lesson for you to learn is that what's important is NOT that Guinness did or did not recognize your accomplishment but that you set out to accomplish this goal, did all the planning and preparation necessary to do so and ACTUALLY DID IT! The fact that Guinness claims that your record is not official should not take away from the importance of your accomplishment. You accomplished your goal, your family, your friends, your neighbors, your town all witnessed your accomplishment. This is the important lesson: you did it. Whether Guinness is willing to acknowledge that you did it is of little importance. We are all very proud of you and you should be very proud of yourself. THAT'S WHAT'S IMPORTANT. In life, there may be other times when you accomplish something and your school, your boss, your coach or someone you care about fails to give you credit for what you've done. Remember, that should not take away from the importance of what you've done. If you have learned this lesson from this Guinness incident, then it will have been worth it, because this is a lesson which you can take with you and become a better person for it. We all love you Sean and whatever Guinness does or does not do can ever change that fact.
